Lenape Other Beadwork Part Two

The Bandolier Bag worn by Lenape men , has a wide, fully beaded shoulder strap attached to a beaded bag. The bag was used to carry tobacco and other items of value. A number of these are now in museums.

This bolo tie which I wear to most powwows was made by my daughter Bright Flower. It represents all the colors that are so meaningful to Lenape traditions and life. She is just excellent in her bead work, and has been doing it since she was a child.

Beaded Wampum Belt 1682, presented to William Penn in Philadelphia by Chief Tamanend of the Lenape Tribe. Now owned by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
