CATALOG DESCRIPTION

Organic Chemistry I

Hours/Credits: 3 Lecture hours/3 Laboratory hours - 4 Credits

Course Description:
Study of reactions, nomenclature, molecular structure and theory of aliphatic, alicyclic and aromatic compounds and their derivatives. A foundation for the study of the mechanisms of chemical reactions is undertaken using concepts of resonance and inductance. Laboratory sessions involve practice in modern organic procedures using wet and instrumental methods.

Prerequisite: CHM 112 -- General Chemistry II or CHE 102 Principles of Chemistry II
