The course text is General Chemistry, 4th Edition, by Hill, Petrucci, McCreary and Perry. It's published by Prentice Hall. Reading assignments from this text are shown in the course's Outline of Learning Activities that you will receive on the first day of class.
In addition to this, there are two excellent texts on reserve in the library:
The laboratory manual for this course is Laboratory Exercises for General
Chemistry I, Revised 2nd Edition , by R. A. Gangi. It's published by McGraw Hill.
Laboratory exercises from this manual are scheduled to be performed as indicated in the course's Outline of Learning Activities.
CD-ROM SOFTWARE
A CD-ROM, General Chemistry: Interactive, is included with your text. This CD follows your text and shows animations, video clips and sample problems to give you additional help in this course. If you are having difficulties with some of the course material (and even if you're not!) it would be worth your while to study using this CD.
If you do not have a computer with a CD-ROM drive at home, bring the CD
to room 603 in the Learning Resource Center (the building to the left of the
College Bookstore). The personnel there will help you to access the contents of this disk.
